Rahul Gandhi: The Indian Overseas Congress protested the Centre’s decision to strip Rahul Gandhi of his right to serve as an MP in London near the Gandhi statue in Parliament Square, branding it “undemocratic,” “unconstitutional,” and “unparliamentary.”

Dangers of defying the BJP or the government

Disqualifying Rahul Gandhi is an effort to inspire fear in the populace by demonstrating the dangers of defying the BJP or the government. To enable his disqualification, his sentence in the 2019 defamation case involving the Modi surname remark was increased. According to the leader of the Indian Overseas Congress, Kamal Dhaliwal, this is an attempt to divert attention away from the Adani problem. A day after the Surat court found him guilty of criminal defamation in 2019 for saying, “How come all thieves have Modi as the common surname?” the Lok Sabha Secretariat on Friday removed Gandhi as the representative for Wayanad in Kerala.

Rahul Gandhi should be permitted to address the legislature

This is undemocratic, unconstitutional, and unparliamentary, in our opinion as members of the Indian diaspora and of the Congress. In India, there are restrictions on free expression. Asra Anjum, IOC Secretary, stated that because India is a democracy, Rahul Gandhi should be permitted to address the legislature. Approximately 60 individuals showed up for the rally when anger about Rahul Gandhi’s treatment was aired. Flowers were placed at Mahatma Gandhi’s feet as a representation of the family’s involvement with the nonviolent yet powerful movement he led. The IOC stated that if the situation against Rahul Gandhi worsened in India, more protests of this nature would be organised on a larger scale.
