Iran Protests: What Iran’s Anti Hijab Protest Decodes?

Iran Protests: Iran has become a boiling pot of raw, simmering wrath, both old and new, following the terrible murder of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman held by the morality police.

For more than 40 years, a totalitarian government in Iran has denied women their fundamental human and civic rights while openly discriminating against them. Similar to how the Southern states of America historically considered Black slaves as three-fifths of a person, the Iranian Constitution views women as 50% of their male counterparts.
Iranian women are disadvantaged by a plethora of regulations that discriminate against them. However, because of its prominence, the mandatory Hijab Law stands out as a symbol of this ongoing tyranny.

What percentage of Iranian population believes in hijab being a mandatory practice?

In Iran, opposition to the mandatory hijab has grown significantly. According to a survey conducted in 2020, 58% of Iranians do not believe in the hijab at all. Only 15% say that the hijab must be legally required to be worn in public, while over 72% oppose this.

Is Mandatory Hijab law Poltically motivated?

However, when the supreme leader personally chose the ultraconservative Ebrahim Raisi to be the country’s political leader last year, he pushed for a return to the hijab’s stringent observance. Raisi was formerly Iran’s head of the judiciary. He’s trying to advance his career by doing this.

Raisi wants to establish his credentials as a fundamentalist. To ensure Raisi is elected president, the Guardian Council has done all within its power, including disqualifying anyone who stood in his way. When the 83-year-old holder of the position dies, this will make it easier for him to ascend to the genuine leadership position in Iran, that of supreme leader. However, there are a few additional candidates as well. Raisi has told the morality police to intensify their monitoring efforts because he has his sights set on the prize.
