Islamabad US-Iran Talks: Islamabad has been placed under massive security as the country prepares to host ceasefire talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America. However, there are countless reasons that suggest the peace talks are bound to fail.
Pakistani government officials and US Vice President JD Vance have expressed optimism about the meeting. On the other hand, United States President Donald Trump has warned Tehran that USA will strike Iran with greater intensity if peace talks fail or Iran tries to outplay America.

Strait of Hormuz
Trump has remarked that Iran promised smooth passage of oil ships and tankers via the strategic Strait of Hormuz. In a Truth social post, the US President remarked this is not the agreement we have and accused Tehran of being dishonourable. Trump is also annoyed by the fact that Iran is collecting a $2m (£1.5m) toll from every single ship passing via the Hormuz Strait.
Nuclear Weapons

On the contrary, Iran has always vehemently denied that it is developing nuclear weapons but said it does have the right to enrich uranium for peaceful and civilian purposes as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Houthis in Yemen, militias in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza have provided regional clout to Tehran. Tehran has been calling the network the “Axis of Resistance” that is perceived by Netanyahu as an “Axis of Evil” representing an existential threat.
Sanctions Relief
For decades, the Islamic regime has been a victim of massive international sanctions. Tehran has now demanded that all international and US sanctions should be lifted before a deal could be finalized.
Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, commented that $120bn (£89bn) of frozen Iranian assets should be immediately released before any form of negotiations could start.
