Israel-Palestine Conflict: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared his commitment to “fight until victory” in Gaza, indicating that there will be no pause in the military’s ongoing bombardment and the anticipated invasion of the region. Israel has already issued an evacuation order for all civilians in the northern half of the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City.

In a recent development, Hamas released two American citizens who were held captive during their incursion into southern Israel on October 7. This ongoing conflict stands as the deadliest of the five Gaza wars for both sides.

Israel-Palestine Conflict: Deaths and Injuries

As of Friday, the Gaza Health Ministry, under Hamas administration, reported that 4,137 Palestinians have lost their lives, with more than 13,000 sustaining injuries. In Israel, over 1,400 individuals have been killed, primarily during the initial attack when Hamas militants infiltrated Israeli territory. Additionally, 203 people were reportedly captured by Hamas during this incursion and taken into Gaza.

Hamas released two American hostages:

On the same day, Hamas released two American hostages, a mother, Judith Tai Raanan, aged 59, and her teenage daughter, Natalie, aged 17, who had been held in Gaza since the incursion. They were handed over to Israeli forces at the Gaza Strip border, marking the first hostages to be released, while over 200 others remain in captivity. Hamas cited humanitarian reasons in its agreement with the Qatari government as the motive for their release.

According to both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the relatives of the mother and daughter, they were abducted from Kibbutz Nahal Oz during the surprise assault on southern Israel on October 7.

Joe Biden about invasion:

US President Joe Biden, when asked whether Israel should delay a potential ground invasion of Gaza until more hostages could be released, initially responded with a “yes.” However, the White House later clarified that Biden did not hear the question from the reporter regarding the potential delay of a ground invasion in Gaza.

“The president was far away. He didn’t hear the full question. The question sounded like ‘Would you like to see more hostages released?’ He wasn’t commenting on anything else,” White House spokesperson Ben LaBolt said. Biden was walking up the steps to board Air Force One when a reporter shouted the question over the sound of the plane’s engines. Biden stopped for a moment and said, “yes,” and then proceeded onto the plane.
