Local Administration in POK Threatens Action Against Those Who Break Hijab Rule

Hijab Rule: In co-educational schools in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), female students and professors are now required to wear the hijab, according to local media outlet Samaa. Female professors and students will be required to wear the hijab in coed institutions, according to a local administration notification. The notification stated that if the directive was broken, action would be taken against the institution’s leader.

Local media outlets have criticised the action. Prominent writer Mariana Baabar criticised the choice on Twitter and emphasised that women should have the option to wear anything they want. The usage of crushing equipment and construction projects in many areas of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), including Muzaffarabad, had just been suspended, according to a local newspaper in Pakistan, and many households were in danger of going hungry.

Stone-crushing operations
