Pakistan: 11 killed in bomb attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In a terrorist hit on Sunday in Pakistan’s North Waziristan tribal territory, which borders Afghanistan, authorities said that at least 11 labourers were murdered and two others were hurt.

Late Saturday night, near Gul Mir Kot in Shawal tehsil, terrorists set off explosives that blew up a van carrying 16 labourers, according to Deputy Commissioner Rehan Gul Khattak of North Waziristan.

According to Khattak, up to 11 construction workers who were employed by a government building that was still under construction died immediately, while two others had serious injuries, and three more went missing.

According to officials, the deaths were from the tribal districts of South Waziristan’s tehsils Makin and Wana. They suffered injuries, and the dead were taken to a neighbouring hospital.

He stated that efforts are still being made to identify and find the missing employees.

Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, condemned the attack that killed innocent labour.

“Heartbreaking to know about the terrorist attack in North Waziristan which claimed the lives of 11 innocent labourers. Strongly condemn this senseless act of violence and stand in solidarity with the families affected,” he said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

In the meantime, miscreants fired a rocket at the truck carrying four members of the Bomb Disposal Squad earlier on Saturday in the Makin tehsil of Upper South Waziristan.
