Pakistan Afghanistan News:The relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan has escalated tension in the region following the Taliban forces’ assault on the Pakistani troops along the border. The Taliban accused Pakistan of carrying out air attacks on Afghan soil. The war has broken out in various border areas, and Pakistan has called on Afghanistan to cease funding militants who attack its troops.
Clashes Along the Border
This fighting started when the Taliban forces accused Pakistan of air attacks around Kabul. The Taliban militants fought the Pakistani troops with light and heavy arms in the border provinces such as Kunar, Nangarhar, Paktia, Khost, and Helmand. The Afghan defence ministry termed their actions as successful and threatened to retaliate heavily should Pakistan act on the territory of Afghanistan once again. The Pakistani officials affirmed that they retaliated by firing heavily and destroying three Afghan drones that were suspected of carrying explosives. The battle has been severe, but no one has been killed yet.
TTP Role and Violence on the Rise
Pakistan Afghanistan News: The Pakistani Taliban (TTP) was trained in Afghanistan, and it has intensified attacks on the Pakistani security agencies in recent months, killing several of its officials and civilians. Pakistan is accusing Afghanistan of allowing militants to use its land as a jump-off point to attack other countries, and Kabul denies this claim. Defence Minister of Pakistan Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated that Pakistan will not condone such attacks and will take measures against anyone who supports militants, whether in Pakistani land or on the Afghan land. A UN report made earlier suggested that the TTP is supported by the Taliban government in Afghanistan in logistics and operations.
Appeals to Restraint and Regional Concern
The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, called on both nations to exercise restraint to avoid the situation. Pakistan and the Taliban seem intent on protecting their stances, which is creating concerns that the tensions between the borders may end up making a bigger war unless handled with a lot of care.
