PM Modi

PM Modi: PM Modi left New Delhi for the United States on June 20. This is his first state visit to the country since becoming Prime Minister in 2014.

Before leaving for the US, he said, “The US visit will be an opportunity to enrich the depth and diversity of our partnership. India-US ties are multifaceted, with deepening engagements across sectors.”

In the past 9 years of his Prime Ministership, Modi has travelled to the US several times and met Presidents Obama, Trump and Biden several times. Here is a brief account of all those meetings.

Modi first travelled to the US as PM in 2014. He met President Obama during this working visit to Washington, D.C. and addressed a huge crowd of Indian-Americans in New York’s Madison Square Garden.

A White House document says, “The President recognized the Prime Minister’s historic victory in the Indian general election earlier this year, and the two leaders discussed the broad partnership that exists between the United States and India.”

Next year, the Indian Prime Minister visited New York and addressed the United Nations General Assembly on sustainable development.
