US concerned about greater alignment between China and Russia

Proposed visit of Xi Jing ping has set alarm bells in US, which is concerned about greater alignments and synergies between China and Russia. US fears that visit would further escalate the conflict into a confrontation between Russia and China on one side and US led Natop military alliance on the other side.

China’s top diplomat Wang Yi met Russian top leadership including Putin and Secretary of Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev and took opportunity to discuss China-Russia relations

“international and regional hot-spot issues of shared interest.”

Patrushev told Wang that the “collective West” was waging a campaign to “contain Russia and China, the further deepening of the Russian-Chinese coordination and [their] interaction in the international arena”.

Since the start of Ukraine conflict, China has provided diplomatic support to Russia and an economic lifeline in the midst of flurry of Western sanctions. China has opened up a gravy train for Russia and bought its oil and sold microchips and other advanced technologies that have military uses.
