Rishi Sunak To Provide Challenger 2 Tanks To Support Ukraine

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Saturday pledged to provide Ukraine with tanks and artillery systems amid renewed missile attacks by Russia targeting the Ukrainian capital and other cities. The British prime minister’s office, Downing Street, said in a statement that Sunak made the commitment after speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday.

The conflict is getting increasingly dangerous

It has not been mentioned in this that when and how many tanks will be supplied. British media has reported that four ‘British Army Challenger 2’ tanks will be sent immediately to Eastern Europe while eight will be sent after this. The announcement came hours after a series of explosions rocked Kyiv on Saturday morning. Meanwhile, Zelensky thanked Sunak in a tweet on Saturday, saying, “These decisions will strengthen us on the battlefield.”

Russia is aggressively attacking Ukraine

Ukrainian officials said a missile attack had damaged an infrastructure. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the explosions were heard in the Dnieperovsky district, a residential area on the left bank of the Dnieper River. However, no casualty has been reported so far. It was not immediately clear whether several complexes in Kyiv were targeted or just one.

Kirylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office, said a residential building in the village of Kopyliv, on the outskirts of Kyiv, was targeted and windows of nearby houses were broken. According to regional governor Oleksiy Kuleba, a total of 18 houses were damaged in the area. “Roofs and windows have been damaged,” Kuleba said in a telegram post. But there is no casualty. Earlier on Saturday, two Russian missiles targeted Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city, the governor of the Kharkiv region said.
