Rishi Sunak’s Leadership in Question After Cabinet Reshuffle? Faces First No-Confidence Letter

Rishi Sunak

Rishi Sunak: Following a cabinet change that resulted in the dismissal of Interior Minister Suella Braverman, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is now facing his first no confidence letter. Former prime minister Boris Johnson’s ally, Tory MP Andrea Jenkyns, has demanded that Sunak be replaced with a “real Conservative party leader.”

Andrea Jenkyns Calls for Rishi Sunak’s Departure

“Enough is enough…It is time for Rishi Sunak to go…,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) and shared her no-confidence letter. Jenkyns also accused Sunak of having removed their ‘valiantly fought for Brexit when parliament was in deadlock, democratically elected leader, Boris Johnson.’ Sunak was legally exempt from a vote of no confidence during the first year of his tenure as a Tory. On October 24, he reached the 12-month mark in the position, though, and as a result, a motion of no confidence could be brought against him.

Tory MP Criticizes Braverman’s Firing as Speaking the Truth

The Tory MP also posted on X shortly after it was announced that Braverman had been fired. “Sacked for speaking the truth,” She commented on the microblogging site, “Bad call by Rishi caving in to the left,” in reaction to the former Home Secretary’s statement regarding police “favouritism” in handling the recent pro-Palestinian demonstrations in London.

Suella Braverman Stands Out in Cabinet for Speaking Up

The only member of the Cabinet with “the balls to speak the truth of the appalling state of our streets and a two-tier policing system that leaves the Jewish community in fear for their lives and safety” was Suella Braverman, whom Jenkyns publicly criticised for being Fired from her position as Home Secretary.
