Rishi Sunak Dismisses Interior Minister Suella Braverman Following Controversial Police remark

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has reportedly removed Interior Minister Suella Braverman from his cabinet, as disclosed by a government source on November 13. The decision stemmed from Braverman’s recent remark on the police’s management of a pro-Palestinian march, a stance that defied Sunak’s position.

Braverman’s publication of an article denouncing the police’s handling of the Saturday march received widespread criticism, with opponents arguing that her actions escalated tensions and encouraged the participation of right-wing protesters on the streets of London. This mounting pressure left Sunak with little choice but to address the matter.

Sunak underlined the importance of refraining from excessive interference by politicians in police matters, a departure from Braverman’s viewpoint. This sentiment echoed similar remarks made by UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.

Reacting to sacking, Braverman said she will have “more to say in due course”. “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as home secretary … I will have more to say in due course.”
