Russia Ukraine War: Russia accuses Ukraine of targeting six Russian regions with drones

Russia Ukraine War: In what looks to be the biggest drone strike on Russian land since Moscow pushed soldiers into Ukraine 18 months ago, six Russian regions were allegedly targeted by drones from Ukraine early on Wednesday.

According to the governor and local media, drones struck an airport in the western Pskov region and set it on fire. According to the Defence Ministry, more drones were shot down over Oryol, Bryansk, Ryazan, Kaluga, and the Moscow region around the Russian capital.

According to emergency officials and the state news outlet Tass, the attack in Pskov damaged four Il-76 freight planes and caused damage to an airport in the region’s city.

In order to examine the damage during the day on Wednesday, Pskov regional governor Mikhail Vedernikov ordered all flights to and from the airport to be cancelled.

Social media posts and videos showed a massive fire and smoke rising over the city of Pskov. No one was hurt, according to Vedernikov, and the fire was put out. According to unconfirmed media reports, the airport may have been targeted by 10 to 20 drones.

Only Pskov was mentioned by officials as having damage. According to the Russian military, three drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, and two over the Oryol region, according to Andrei Klychkov, the territory’s governor. According to officials, three were brought down: two over the Ryazan region, one over Kaluga, and one over the Moscow region.

Although some Russian media claimed inhabitants of the Bryansk region as stating they heard a tremendous explosion, no damage or deaths were reported in those areas.

Early on Wednesday, drones were fired at the harbour of the port city of Sevastopol, according to Russian-installed officials in the annexation of Crimea. Mikhail Razvozzhayev, the governor of Sevastopol selected by Moscow, said it wasn’t immediately apparent how many drones had been destroyed.
