Shashi Tharoor Slams Pak

India had a clear message for the world this week, and Shashi Tharoor was the voice behind it. Leading an all-party team to Washington after Operation Sindoor, Tharoor called out Pakistan’s terror denial and asked the global community not to ignore the truth. His strong words echoed in both Indian and US political circles.

Pakistan had also sent a team (led by Bilawal Bhutto) to share their side. But Tharoor’s bold and clear tone grabbed all the attention. Known for speaking his mind, Tharoor showed why India’s stand against cross-border terrorism remains strong.

“Stop Playing Victim” - Shashi Tharoor Rips Apart Pakistan’s Claims

Tharoor hit out at Pakistan’s old defence that it’s also a victim of terrorism. Talking about Bhutto’s visit, he said, “They (Pakistan) are claiming to be innocent, had nothing to do with this and they themselves are victims of terrorism. Indeed, I know that Bilawal Bhutto’s mother was killed and one sympathise with the young man for the loss of his mother to terrorism.”

He then added: “How can you breed vipers in your backyard and expect them to bite only your neighbours?” He quoted Hillary Clinton to remind everyone that Pakistan supported groups like Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, which are now turning against them.

He said, “This isn’t about sympathy. It’s about responsibility. The world must hold them accountable.” Tharoor made it clear that Pakistan’s link to terrorism cannot be ignored.

Tharoor Lays Down India’s Red Line On Terror

When asked about peace talks, Tharoor made India’s stand very clear. He said, “India has a very clear position that there will be no talks with a gun pointed at our head.” He explained with a simple example: “If your neighbour unleashes his Rottweilers to bite your children and then says ‘let’s talk,’ you’re not going to talk until he locks them up or puts them to sleep.”

Tharoor said India is open to talks, but only in a safe, peaceful environment. “It’s not that we can’t talk to Pakistan, we speak all the same languages, but we won’t dialogue under threat.”

He also dismissed claims that US trade diplomacy helped reduce tensions after the Pahalgam attack. Pointing to US President Donald Trump’s earlier remarks, he said, “Not once was trade mentioned in those calls.”

Tharoor ended by saying Operation Sindoor was just the beginning. India will not sit quietly if provoked again. He said, “We’re not asking anyone to pick sides. Just understand our side. And stand with us when it counts. We don’t want conflict, but we won’t live in fear either. If Pakistan stops, we stop. But if they hit us, we will hit back.”
