Shocking! Influencer Jailed for Starving 1-Month-Old Son to Death with Bizarre ‘Sunlight Diet’

Influencer's Belief in "Sunlight Diet" Leads to Newborn's Death - Trial Details Inside

A social media influencer’s extreme beliefs resulted in heartbreaking consequences. Maxim Lyutyi, a Russian influencer with nearly 60,000 followers, was sentenced to eight years in prison for the death of his one-month-old son, Kosmos.

Lyutyi, described as a “radical raw food fanatic,” believed depriving Kosmos of food and instead exposing him to sunlight would grant him superhuman abilities, mirroring Superman from comics. This bizarre “sunlight diet” stemmed from Lyutyi’s distorted perception of health and fitness.

A web of Manipulation and Neglect

Lyutyi’s obsession with this dangerous practice went further. He reportedly restricted Kosmos’ mother, Oksana Mironova, from breastfeeding and imposed a strict vegan “prana” diet on the infant. This diet, based on the idea of spiritual energy-infused foods, lacked the vital nutrients a newborn needs. Mironova’s attempts to secretly feed Kosmos were thwarted by Lyutyi’s unwavering belief in the “sunlight diet.”

The situation worsened with reports of Lyutyi exposing Kosmos to cold water in a misguided attempt to “toughen him up.” This chilling combination of neglect and adherence to pseudoscience painted a disturbing picture.

Regret and Remorse

Mironova’s mother, Galina, expressed deep regret over not intervening sooner. Lyutyi’s manipulative influence had reportedly isolated Mironova, who was described as living “like a guinea pig” under his control.

The tragic story reached its peak on March 8th, 2023, when Kosmos succumbed to malnourishment. Initially, Lyutyi tried to blame Mironova, but later confessed his role and pleaded for leniency, claiming negligence rather than malice.

Justice Served, But a Life Lost

As the trial concluded, prosecutors sought an eight-and-a-half-year sentence with a fine for Lyutyi. Mironova received a two-year sentence of “correctional labor.” This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of following unproven and extreme ideologies, especially when it comes to a child’s well-being.
