PM Modi: The United States is keenly looking forward to hosting Prime Minister Modi during his state visit to Washington from June 21 to June 22. This was stated by John Kirby, Coordinator for United States National Security Council Strategic Communications.
The NSC or the National Security Council is the U.S. President’s top-most forum for making policies on security and foreign relations.
Kirby also said India and the United States have a “significant defence partnership” and “terrific cooperation” in Quad. The Quad is a 4-nation grouping comprising India, the United States, Australia and Japan. The main function of this coalition is to ensure peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
Lately, China has been making various claims in the Pacific Ocean.
First state visit
This would be Narendra Modi’s first state visit to the United States. A state visit means that the U.S. is inviting India for a visit to that country.
Previously, Modi has embarked on working and official visits to the U.S.
During his June state visit, he would stay in Blair House, the official guest house of the visiting foreign dignitaries. Modi will also address a joint session of the U.S. Congress.
So far, no agenda has been decided between PM Modi and Joe Biden, according to John Kirby.
It is noteworthy that Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval travelled to the U.S. in May to meet his counterpart Jake Sullivan.

What could be discussed?
Some experts say that the U.S. might persuade India to join a NATO-like grouping. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization or NATO is primarily an anti-Russia grouping.
During Modi’s visit, the Biden Administration might okay the transfer of specific military technologies to India. If this comes true, then India would be allowed to manufacture jet engines that can be used in combat aircraft.
