Ukraine: Russian Missiles brutally pummel areas considered safe in Ukraine

Last week, a helicopter carrying the interior minister of Ukraine crashed into a kindergarten building after flying through the fog. The exhausted citizens of Ukraine have had a dismal week. There was complete chaos as people rushed to save the children whose bodies were stewing in flames.

A 62 year old custodian had this to say, with acid stench of burning still in air “I am still in shock”.

When authorities took pictures of the site to try to piece together how the collision happened, Oksana Yuriy, 33, had this to say

“I thought this was a safe place,” she said. “Now I understand there is no such thing.”

59 people have perished in places where many people believed they were safe from the violence of the war against Russia, which is now in its eleventh week, leaving the people of Ukraine in sorrow.

Since Russia began its special operations, numerous Ukrainian lives have been lost in missile attacks, on the battlefield, and as civilians in theatres, apartment buildings, and schools. The people of Ukraine have suffered irreparable losses.

However, by any standard, this week appears to have been extremely brutal for Ukrainian citizens.

Missile Strike in Apartment Building in Dnipro leaves 45 people dead

Beginning over the weekend, a volley of Russian missiles struck an apartment building in the city of Dnipro in the region’s southeast that was home to about 1,700 people. The bloodiest attack on civilians since April, the barrage on January 14 killed 45 people, including six children, in a region that had previously been seen as safe by many who had fled front-line regions farther east.

Helicopter crash in Brovary neighborhood of Kyiv leaves 14 people dead including Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky

Following that, a helicopter crash on Wednesday at a kindergarten in the Brovary neighbourhood of Kiev claimed the lives of 14 people, including Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyi and other officials from his ministry. On the ground, one child was killed, and 25 people were hurt, 11 of them children.

The Super Puma helicopter crashed in the fog while 42-year-old Monastyrskyi was making his way to the front lines, however no cause has been officially established.

On Friday, flowers were heaped up at the kindergarten’s fence. After learning that aloe vera plants may aid in the recovery of burn victims, a 73-year-old woman hanged a plastic bag filled with the plants.

However, not all of the mourning took place in Brovary or Dnipro.
Oleksy Zavadskyi was laid to rest in a cemetery in Bucha, a town close to the capital, after dying in battle in Bakhmut, where fighting has been fierce for months. Anya Korostenstka, his fiancée, sprinkled dirt on his coffin after it had been buried. She sobbed until she passed out.

Press Conference of Ukrainian President

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated at a Press Conference at the Mariinsky Palace in Kyiv and stated:

“The courage of our military and the motivations of the Ukrainian people is not enough,”

Vlodomyr Zelensky made an appearance the day before via video link at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, when he requested that his distinguished audience observes a moment of silence in memory of those who had died in the helicopter tragedy. Olena Zelenska, his wife, wiped tears from her eyes as she learned about the tragedy. She had flown to the conference to personally rally support for Ukraine.

US Ambassador Bridget Brinks reiterates US commitment expresses solidarity with Ukrainian citizens

U.S. Ambassador Bridget Brink informed attendees at a gathering on Thursday at Kyiv’s opulent Fairmont Hotel that a few members of the embassy’s employees had perished in front-line combat.

She stated by urging her audience of diplomats, businessman, and journalists not to lose faith “I know a lot of Ukrainians inside and outside the government are hurting right now,”
