Social media has erupted with disturbing allegations that former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was sexually assaulted while in custody. The claims, which cite a purported medical report from the Pakistan Emirates Military Hospital (PEMH), Rawalpindi, are being widely shared but remain unverified by official authorities.
The Viral Claims

Several social media users also circulated screenshots of an alleged medical evaluation summary detailing:
Swelling and bruising around the perineal area
Decreased anal sphincter tone
Linear fissures and bleeding
Suspected causes including anal fissures and hemorrhoidal bleeding
The document, attributed to PEMH Rawalpindi, suggests that the report was submitted to General Headquarters (GHQ) and indicates pending HIV, hepatitis, and STI tests. It also notes that discharge would only be authorized with clearance from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Fact-Checking and Official Response
Despite the virality of these claims, there is no official confirmation from the Pakistani government, the military, or Imran Khan’s legal team validating these accusations.
Importantly, Asianet News reported that Imran Khan’s official medical examination was conducted at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, not PEMH in Rawalpindi, as claimed in the viral document. This discrepancy casts serious doubt on the authenticity of the shared medical report.
Additionally, Dawn, one of Pakistan’s leading newspapers, reported that Imran Khan did raise concerns about harassment and mistreatment in jail, but did not explicitly mention sexual violence. No credible media outlet in Pakistan has confirmed the claims made in the circulating documents.
Conflicting Timelines and Hospital Mismatch Raise Questions
For starters, the report is dated May 3, 2025, yet it was already circulating widely on social media on May 2, raising immediate red flags about its authenticity and intent. This discrepancy in dates has led to growing speculation about the motives behind its release and whether the report was pre-planned or manipulated.
Adding to the confusion, official sources have confirmed that Imran Khan's medical evaluation was not conducted at PEMH (Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Medical Hospital) as claimed in the circulated report. Instead, the examination was reportedly carried out by doctors at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.
This clear mismatch of location and the questionable timeline have prompted demands from political allies and independent watchdogs for an official clarification and a transparent review of the report’s origins.
Sexual Abuse in Custody: A Known Issue in Pakistan
While the current claims about Imran Khan remain unverified, human rights organizations have previously reported instances of sexual violence against prisoners in Pakistan, particularly to humiliate, punish, or silence political opponents and activists. Such practices, though underreported due to stigma and repression, have been documented by groups like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.
The allegations against the Pakistani military, if true, would mark a horrifying chapter in the treatment of political prisoners. However, as of now, there is no verified evidence to confirm the sexual assault claims regarding Imran Khan. Social media users are urged to exercise caution and await statements from credible sources.
