Woman repeatedly stabs university student on bus in US For ‘Being Chinese’

Woman stabs university student: In a racial attack, a student of Indiana University was allegedly stabbed in the head for ‘being Chinese’. The attacker, a 56-year-old woman, told police that she targeted the student only because of her race and nothing else, according to media reports.

Accused Billie Davis allegedly told the police that the victim “would be one less person to blow up our country”.

Seven stab wounds on head

Davis, who was seen smirking in a photo, was originally only charged with battery until hospital workers found seven stab wounds on the victim’s head. When police again questioned Davis, she allegedly admitted to using a folding knife in the racially charged attack. Police charged the woman with attempted murder. However, it remained unclear if Davis will also be charged with a hate crime.

The attack was completely unprovoked, police said.

The vibtim was an 18-year-old student, who told police that she was exiting the bus when she was repeatedly stabbed in the head by a stranger on bus. Davis attacked her when the student was waiting for the doors to open, police said.

Attacker flees after crime

Footage accessed by the police showed the woman getting off the bus and running away as her victim stayed at the scene bleeding. A witness followed Davis in order to give her location to cops.

Reports said that Davis is being held at Monroe County Jail on a $100,000 surety bond and $1,000 cash bond.

“This week, Bloomington was sadly reminded that anti-Asian hate is real and can have painful impacts on individuals and our community,” Indiana University Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Multicultural Affairs James Wimbush said in a statement.

Wimbush added, “No one should face harassment or violence due to their background, ethnicity or heritage. Instead, the Bloomington and IU communities are stronger because of the vast diversity of identities and perspectives that make up our campus and community culture.”
