BJP workers blacken Rahul Gandhi’s posters over ‘Savarkar helped British’ remark

During the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, Rahul Gandhi had accused Vinayak Damodar Savarkar that he had supported the British during the freedom movement and in return he was rewarded. BJP workers, enraged by his statement, protested in Mumbai and hit the posters of Rahul Gandhi. BJP leader Ram Kadam named this protest ‘Joota Maro Andolan’. BJP workers say that Rahul Gandhi has insulted the freedom fighters.

Kama Kadam said, Rahul Gandhi’s objectionable statement is extremely shameful. They should apologize for this. He keeps on making statements that are unacceptable and hurt people. When Uddhav Thackeray was questioned about his stand, Ram Kadam said, Why is Uddhav Thackeray silent on this matter? Why is he not asking questions to Rahul Gandhi? Because Uddhav Thackeray now compromises with Hindutva and does not agree with Balasaheb Thackeray’s views.

In a press conference in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi had said, “We remember those Congress leaders who fought with the Britishers. He remained in jail for years. These include the names of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel. I read in history that RSS supported the British. Savarkar used to get reward from the British and BJP cannot hide it.”

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis hit back at Rahul Gandhi and said that Rahul Gandhi neither knows the history of Congress nor of India. Rahul Gandhi has insulted Swatantraveer Savarkar. He always keeps saying that Savarkar to British agent and we condemn his misrepresentation.
