The second phase of Bihar assembly elections is also important for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as well as the Grand Alliance led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Elections will be held in Madhya Bihar on November 3, which includes Tirhut, Mithilanchal and Kosi regions. In the second phase, voting will be done on 94 seats in 17 districts. This includes some remaining areas of Patna and Nalanda districts.
In 2015, the party won 20 of these 94 seats, where elections are going to be held in the second phase. Out of 71 seats in the first phase, BJP has contested on 29, while JDU on 35. This is a clear indication that the first phase election was more important to Nitish Kumar than BJP. Why is the second phase important for the ruling NDA alliance in Bihar? BJP is contesting on 46 of the 94 seats in the second phase. Out of the three phases, BJP has the maximum seats in this phase.
While the NDA is in the fray on the basis of the development done by its government in the region and the state, the opposition parties, including the Grand Alliance, are talking about the winds of change. However, in this election, opposition parties are talking about making unemployment a main issue and giving employment to their government.
Many rebels of JDU are also in the fray in the second phase. Among them are former MLA Manjit Singh from Baikunthpur and Shailendra Pratap from Taraiya. Both these seats have gone to the BJP’s quota, due to which both the leaders of JDU have jumped into the independent ground.
