Bhojpuri actor-singer Khesari Lal Yadav recently made headlines after meeting Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav at his residence in Patna yesterday. The meeting lasted a while and led to rumours that he might contest a Bihar Assembly election on an RJD ticket.
Khesari quickly dismissed these claims. Speaking to the media, he said he had no plans to join politics. The actor said, “Hum chunav ladne nahi aaye the, hum to hero hi sahi hain, hum aise hi garda uda rahe hain,” he said, adding that he is happy making films and singing songs.

Khesari Lal Yadav Says He Went To Take ‘Blessings’ From Tejashwi Yadav
Khesari described his relationship with Tejashwi as that of brothers. He explained, “I came to take the blessings of my bade bhai.” He shared that the visit was personal and not political. When asked about entering politics later, he replied, “Aaj hum hero hain, aane wale kal mein kya hoga pata nahi.”
According to Khesari, Tejashwi has encouraged him to think about politics. However, he remains focused on his entertainment career. “Galat ke khilaf awaaz uthni chahiye,” he stressed, saying his support will only go to those who respect him.
When questioned about other Bhojpuri actors joining the BJP, Khesari said it made no difference to him. Respect, he repeated, was the only thing that mattered.
His Long-Standing Ties With Lalu Family
Khesari, who hails from Saran (Chhapra) district, is one of the most popular stars in Bhojpuri cinema. His connection with the Lalu Prasad Yadav family is not new. In March last year, before the Lok Sabha elections, he met the RJD supremo at Rabri residence. That meeting also sparked political rumours, which he later denied.
While people speculated about his political plans, Khesari focused on music. He has released a new song, Tiranga Jhukne Na Denge, as part of his upcoming film Baaghi – Ek Yodha.
