Sukhi Chahal: Just Before Referendum, Anti Khalistani Social Activist Dies Mysteriously, Foul Play Involved ?

Sukhi Chahal, a successful businessman and social activist in the US, was well known for publicly denouncing anti-Khalistani groups. He was found dead in California shortly before a Khalistan Referendum, with an expected event date of August 17, 2025, in Washington, DC. Chahal started and was the leader of The Khalsa Today, a site opposed to Khalistani separatist aims from abroad.

His family and community described the event as suspicious because he died so close to the Khalistan referendum and received direct threats from pro-Khalistan groups over the past months. His death raises concerns from the Sikh and Indian-American communities.

Circumstances Surrounding the Death

According to sources, Chahal attended a dinner at a friend\’s home right before he died under mysterious circumstances from what has been reported to be an unknown and sudden illness. Chahal was reportedly in good health and active in opposing the Khalistan Referendum, which was an event where pro-Khalistani separatists sought political endorsement for their position.

Friends and associates expressed concern at the suddenness of his death. They recounted that Chahal had received many death threats from those connected to his opposition to Khalistani extremism. “He was always worried for his personal safety, but he was steadfast in the fact that he opposed extremism,” said an associate who wanted to remain anonymous.

The authorities in California have initiated their own investigation into his death. Though there is no official cause yet, an autopsy report is expected soon and will perhaps reveal relevant information about possible foul play.

A Voice Against Separatism and Crime

Chahal distinguished himself as a passionate and unwavering supporter of peace and unity among the Sikh community and vigorously opposed Khalistani separatism. His platform, The Khalsa Today, warned of the dangers of radical ideology, encouraging Indian immigrants in the United States to respect local laws and not engage in crime.

Chahal was respected by many in the community for his willingness to champion peace and warn of the negative consequences of illegal actions that could affect immigration status and Canada-India relations.

Community Response and Continuing Investigation

The reaction to the news of his death was a mixture of anger and sadness, as there have been many activists in the Indian diaspora who oppose the referendum. Social media has been inundated with calls for justice and a fair and transparent investigation.

With the Khalistan Referendum around the corner, such a respected figure passing away mysteriously stirs tension and speculation about the lengths that opposing sides may undertake to further influence the story.

The officials are asking for patience as they run down all the leads and stated the investigation will not stop until they have a complete understanding of the circumstances.
