Punjab Police: In a significant breakthrough in the state’s ongoing fight against organized crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police has apprehended Jagroshan Singh, a resident of Naushera Pannua in Tarn Taran district. The accused was wanted in connection with the August 14, 2025 firing incident at Zira, Ferozepur, where a businessman was specifically targeted in what police believe was a planned gangster operation.

According to the official statement from the DGP Punjab Police, preliminary investigations have revealed that the shooting was carried out on the instructions of foreign-based gangster Lakhbir Singh alias Landa, who is known for operating an extensive network of organized crime across Punjab and beyond. The incident in Zira was a clear reflection of the growing attempts by foreign handlers to spread fear and extort money through violent means.

An FIR has been registered at PS Zira, Ferozepur, and investigators are currently working to unearth the entire chain of communication and local support that enabled the attack. Sources within the AGTF indicated that Singh’s arrest is expected to provide crucial leads in identifying associates, financers, and logistical supporters connected to the Landa network.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who has consistently emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards gangsters, praised the Punjab Police and the AGTF for their swift and effective action. “Our government will not allow organized crime to destabilize Punjab. Every gangster and their foreign-based handlers will be held accountable,” Mann stated.
The Punjab Police has assured citizens that the force remains firmly committed to dismantling organized crime syndicates, protecting law-abiding citizens, and restoring peace and security across the state.
