Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 review explores fan reactions to Will’s coming out, Max’s fate, pacing issues and more. Check!

Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 dropped globally on December 25, 2025. Indian viewers got it a day later. And within hours, social media lit up. Twitter (now X) was filled with reactions, debates and emotional posts from fans across the world.

Volume 2 includes three episodes – “Shock Jock”, “Escape from Camazotz” and “The Bridge.” These episodes act as the final stretch before the grand series finale on New Year’s Eve. Expectations were sky-high and so were emotions.

Fans praised the scale and intensity. At the same time, many questioned the storytelling choices. The response has been loud, mixed and impossible to ignore.

Emotional Moments Dominate The Conversation

The most talked-about scene from Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2 was the reunion of Max and Lucas. After escaping Vecna’s mindscape, Max finally wakes up from her coma in Episode 6. Fans shared clips and screenshots of their emotional hug. Many were relieved to see “Lumax” together again.

But the happiness did not last long. The reveal that Max is now paralysed hit viewers hard. Social media was flooded with heartbreak and concern. Fans called the moment beautiful but painful.

Will Byers also took over online trends. Volume 2 includes his clear “coming out” moment. Viewers praised Noah Schnapp for the emotional depth he brought to the scene. His monologue where Will accepts who he is to fight his fear of Vecna struck a chord.

Still, not everyone agreed. Some fans felt the scene was “drawn out” and even “unnecessary,” especially with Hawkins facing an apocalypse.

Another surprise was the rise of Holly Wheeler. Many viewers noticed that she drives much of the story in this volume. Fans compared her instincts and courage to Eleven’s early journey. Her arc, paired with the return of Eleven’s “sister” Kali, sparked theories about how their powers could shape the final battle.

Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 Review: Praise, Pacing Issues And Frustration

While emotions ran high, criticism was just as strong. A large section of fans complained about pacing. Many called the episodes heavy on exposition. Some described it as “middle-movie syndrome.”

The most repeated complaint was that the plot felt like it was “stalling.” Viewers felt major events were being saved for the finale. One phrase summed it up for many: “everything and nothing happened at the same time.”

The return of Kali and the deeper dive into the “Abyss” lore divided fans further. Some liked the show coming full circle. Others felt Kali’s return was “forced.” Dustin’s explanation of the Abyss as the source of Henry’s power led to darker theories. Kali’s warning about “no happy endings” only added to the fear.

Fans were also upset about how little Eleven and Robin were used. Many pointed out that Eleven stayed on the “sidelines” for most of Volume 2. Robin’s absence from key moments also disappointed viewers. Calls for stronger roles in the finale grew louder.

Despite all this, excitement remains strong. Fans are anxious but hopeful. Many admitted they are still “glued to their screens.” With a two-hour finale arriving on December 31, the final showdown with Vecna now feels closer than ever.
