Mohan Yadav Govt Relaxes Wheat Procurement Norms in Madhya Pradesh, Big Relief for Farmers

This move is expected to benefit farmers whose crops were affected by adverse weather conditions.

In a major decision aimed at supporting farmers, the government led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has relaxed wheat procurement norms across Madhya Pradesh.

Mohan Yadav: Relaxation in Wheat Quality Standards

Under the revised guidelines, wheat with up to 50% reduced shine will now be accepted for procurement. This move is expected to benefit farmers whose crops were affected by adverse weather conditions.

Increased Limit for Undeveloped Grains

The permissible limit for underdeveloped grains has been increased from 6% to 10%, taking into account the impact of water scarcity and other environmental factors on crop quality.

Higher Tolerance for Damaged Grains

Additionally, the government has allowed up to 6% damaged grains, providing further flexibility to farmers during procurement.

Relief Amid Weather Challenges

Officials stated that the decision comes in response to climatic challenges and water shortages, which have affected the quality of wheat in several regions.

Ensuring Fair Returns to Farmers

The revised norms aim to ensure that farmers do not suffer financial losses due to factors beyond their control, enabling them to sell their produce more easily.

Strengthening Procurement System

The move is also expected to streamline procurement operations, reduce rejection rates, and ensure smoother transactions at mandis.

Government’s Farmer-Centric Approach

The decision reflects the state government’s commitment to placing farmer welfare at the forefront, ensuring timely support and policy flexibility.

Boost to Rural Economy

By enabling more farmers to sell their produce, the policy is likely to contribute to rural economic stability and income security.
