Mohanlal starrer much-awaited thriller Drishyam 3 is finally set to hit theatres tomorrow, but the film is facing an unexpected challenge ahead of release. Despite carrying one of Indian cinema’s most successful thriller franchises, the movie has surprisingly failed to create strong buzz outside the Malayalam market. The lack of excitement around the Telugu and other dubbed versions has now become a major talking point online.
While Drishyam 3 continues to enjoy massive anticipation in Kerala, the situation appears very different in several other regions. Reports suggest that awareness about the film’s Telugu release remains extremely low, especially among rural audiences. Many moviegoers reportedly do not even know that the film is releasing this week, raising concerns about its opening-day performance outside Malayalam-speaking territories.
Poor Promotions Raise Questions Ahead Of Drishyam 3 Release
One of the biggest reasons behind the weak buzz appears to be the film’s minimal promotional strategy. Apart from releasing a Telugu trailer online, the makers reportedly skipped major offline promotions and publicity campaigns in non-Malayalam markets.
This has left many fans confused, especially considering that Drishyam is one of the most recognised thriller franchises in Indian cinema. The film’s quiet marketing approach has now sparked discussions about whether the makers are depending entirely on word-of-mouth publicity after release.
According to a report by 123Telugu, advance bookings for the Telugu version are currently very poor. The report further stated that the team is likely banking on a positive audience response to improve collections over the weekend.

Can Strong Word-Of-Mouth Save Drishyam 3?
Despite the weak pre-release momentum, industry watchers believe Drishyam 3 still has the potential to bounce back if audience reviews turn positive after the first shows. The franchise has built a loyal fanbase over the years because of its gripping storytelling, suspense-driven screenplay, and emotional family drama.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film continues the story of Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal. The third instalment reportedly takes place four-and-a-half years after the events of Drishyam 2 and follows Georgekutty as he once again tries to protect his family while dealing with the psychological burden of his past actions.
The film is expected to feature intense emotional conflicts, legal complications, and new threats that push Georgekutty into another dangerous battle for survival.
A Massive Pan-India Release For Mohanlal Starrer
Drishyam 3 marks the final chapter of the blockbuster crime-thriller franchise. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on May 21, 2026, with simultaneous dubbed releases in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada alongside the original Malayalam version.
Interestingly, the Hindi remake universe is also continuing separately. A standalone Hindi adaptation starring Ajay Devgn is expected to release later this year on October 2, 2026.
While the Malayalam version is already generating strong excitement among fans, the coming days will reveal whether Drishyam 3 can overcome its low buzz in other languages and emerge as another major success for Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph.
