What Happened in the Crash
CCTV footage from the scene shows a white sedan ramming into Sia’s sports bike, throwing her off the vehicle. The case was initially registered under rash driving and injury provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, before police later added an attempt-to-murder charge against Bainsla.
Sia’s Sharp Response
In a roughly three-minute video, Sia directly challenged Bainsla’s earlier statements to reporters, in which he claimed he didn’t know whether the rider was a man or a woman and suggested only one angle of footage had surfaced. Sia argued that visuals from the scene tell a different story altogether.
She rejected his claim of feeling sympathy for her, pointing out that genuine concern would have meant stopping immediately rather than fleeing. She said the crash could have cost her life, and framed the incident as reflecting a wider sense of insecurity among women riders in Delhi-NCR.
Ownership Confusion Adds a Twist
The sedan involved is registered to a man named Manish, who works in the Army and says he was on duty at the time. He confirmed the car was lent to his friend, Kalyan Bainsla, adding another layer to the unfolding case.
With conflicting claims now in the public domain and an attempted-murder charge already added, the case is likely to draw further scrutiny as police examine the CCTV evidence and Sia’s video alongside Bainsla’s statements.
