In a post on X on October 27, Adityanath said Ayodhya was preparing to welcome the festival with illuminated riverbanks along the Saryu, tableaux depicting episodes from the Ramayana, grand processions and cultural performances. He said each lamp would symbolise devotion to Lord Ram and the pride of Sanatan culture.

The Chief Minister traced the festival’s growth to 2017, when, according to his post, Deepotsav began with the lighting of 1.71 lakh earthen lamps. He said the celebration had since become a symbol of the faith and enthusiasm of devotees of Lord Ram across India and abroad, with preparations underway for another record-setting lamp-lighting event this year.

Adityanath credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance and the efforts of the BJP-led state and central governments for Ayodhya’s transformation since 2017. He pointed to the Ram Temple, Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, the redeveloped Ram Path, improved ghats and modern civic facilities as examples of the city’s changing infrastructure.

He also highlighted Ayodhya’s development as a solar city, presenting the city as a place where religious heritage and modern infrastructure are coming together. According to the Chief Minister, the annual Deepotsav has become a prominent expression of this cultural revival.

The post also contained political criticism of the governments that ruled Uttar Pradesh before 2017, which Adityanath accused of neglecting Ayodhya. He contrasted that period with the development initiatives undertaken after 2017.
