Lured by Job Offer in Thailand, Over 60 Indians Get Trapped in Myanmar

If you are dreaming of a job abroad and believe anyone’s words about getting a job abroad, then this news is very important for you. Do read it till the end. This will save you from being a victim of fraud. In fact, sources in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) say that an international racket is going on in Thailand to dupe people by promising them jobs. This racket has cheated more than 60 Indian people. Earlier these people were illegally brought to Myanmar. Later they did not get work and neither did the people who cheated them. After this these stranded Indians contacted the Indian Embassy. The Indian embassy has started evacuating the stranded people with the help of the Myanmar government.

According to the report, there is an international racket to exploit and cheat Indian citizens on the pretext of jobs in Thailand. It first implicates people and then brings them illegally into Myanmar. According to information received from different sources, the gang has cheated more than 60 Indians in this way so far.

According to an earlier report by PTI news agency, the Indian Embassy has rescued more than 30 Indians out of 60 stranded in the Myavadi area. The Indian Embassy is working closely with the Myanmar government for their rescue. Notably, the Myawari region is not entirely under the control of the Myanmar government. So there is a slight delay.

On 5 July 2022, the Indian Embassy in Yangon, Myanmar issued an advisory, stating that some IT companies involved in digital scamming/forge crypto activities located in the Far Eastern border areas of Myanmar are recruiting Indian employees. On the pretext of potential employment opportunities in the IT sector, these people, through their fake recruitment agents, engage people from different places by pretending to work outside. Cautioning against the danger, the Indian Embassy has written that Indian citizens are requested to take due precautions and verify the recruitment agents. Do not do any transaction with such people for job. Even if you are doing it, then before that check all the necessary information (job details, company details, location, employment contract). Myanmar is one of India’s strategic neighbors. It shares a 1,640 km long border with several northeastern states including Nagaland and Manipur.
