Baojun Yup electric vehicle seems like a Maruti Suzuki Jimny doppelganger, all you should know

Baojun Yup: Baojun reportedly showed off a prototype for a small electric crossover a few months ago. The Chinese automaker at the time withheld several facts, including its specifications, measurements, and operating range. But, Baojun has finally taken the wraps off the little EV crossover if you’ve always been interested in the finished product.

The model had Kiwi branding when it first surfaced in a teaser from last year, but it appears that Baojun has changed its mind and will move through with its own emblem in the final production model. The name of the EV is (YueYe) in Chinese, which translates to a straightforward Yeah in English, according to a report.

Baojun Yup Dimension

The Yep is extremely small, with dimensions of 3,381 mm (133.1 inches) in length, 1,685 mm (66.3 inches) in width, and 1,721 mm (67.8 inches) in height. This results in a vehicle that is up to 214 mm (inches) shorter than the Suzuki Jimny with an ICE engine, yet having approximately equal width and height measurements.

Design

The Baojun Yup resembles the concept fairly closely, with just a few characteristics toned down. Even though the alloy wheels are smaller than typical, it has the proportions of an off-road vehicle. An appealing electric city automobile is made possible by the combination of the features.  Other than the slight hump on the side-hinged tailgate that is designed after a spare wheel cover, other intriguing touches include the modern LED lighting units on both ends.

Specifications

A single electric motor is located in the back of the Baojun Yup. Its permanent magnet synchronous drive motor can provide 140 Nm of peak torque and 68 horsepower (50 kW) of maximum power. The manufacturer is the Shuanglin Group. 100 kilometres per hour is the top speed. There will also apparently be a four-wheel drive twin-motor version. A lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP) is used to store electricity and has a CLTC range of 303 kilometres.
