New-gen Hyundai Verna: With ADAS Technology, this upgraded version has everything to conquer the market, here’s what to expect

New-gen Hyundai Verna: One global model that is due for an update is the Hyundai Verna. Its camouflaged test mules have been spotted testing in India several times, revealing some details. With the global unveiling expected this quarter, we can hope for a launch in our market in the second quarter at the very least. Here is everything we can expect from the sedan.

Exterior features

The camouflage on our country’s test mules has done an excellent job of concealing the exterior changes. The new Verna’s exterior, on the other hand, is expected to be based on the brand’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design philosophy. As a result, the sedan should get a grille similar to the Elantra and split headlamps on either side. Apart from these sweptback headlamps, the bumpers are new with the front one getting an ADAS sensor below the registration plate.

Interior features

After spotting that sensor, it’s safe to assume that Verna’s new model will include ADAS. And it’s no surprise, given that we’ve already had a taste of it with the new Tucson. Surprisingly, the sedan’s interior will be completely redesigned. A dual-screen setup with a large touchscreen infotainment system in the centre and a digital instrument cluster is included. Also, knowing Hyundai, we can anticipate new segment-first features and a plethora of equipment.

Engine and gearbox

Hyundai is likely to offer the 2023 Verna with its tried-and-true 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Nonetheless, we anticipate that these will be paired with a hybrid motor. Transmission options such as the current six-speed manual and automatic transmissions could also be carried over. However, with the introduction of RDE emission standards, there is a chance that Hyundai will abandon the oil-burner in this soon-to-be petrol-centric segment.

Who are rivals of this Next-Gen Hyundai Verna

The Verna is set to enter production at the manufacturer’s plant in India next month. Following its global debut, the sedan will be produced in our country for other markets as well. In fact, production will be increased in comparison to the previous schedule in order to meet export demand. The new-gen Hyundai Verna will compete in India with the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
