What is Flex-Fuel Technology?
Flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs) are designed to operate on a variety of ethanol and gasoline blends. The Fronx flex-fuel concept is expected to utilize a modified 1.2-litre petrol engine that can run on ethanol blends ranging from E20 to E85. The E85 blend has 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, providing cleaner combustion than traditional fuels and higher octane levels.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Design and Features
The concept model will likely have “Flex Fuel” decals to distinguish the prototype from standard Fronx versions. In the production version, we could see additional branding such as a flex-fuel badge on the tailgate, indicating its environmentally friendly credentials.
Environmental Impact
The launch of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx flex-fuel E85 variant supports India’s Ethanol Blending Roadmap, which proposes to blend 20% ethanol (E20) by 2025. This is part of a broader effort to further the government’s initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and introduce renewable energy in the auto sector.
