Automatic Cars Under 6 Lakhs: It is no longer necessary to have huge funds to get an automated car in India. Thanks to automated manual gearbox (AMT) technology, even entry-level cars in India now have the option of an automatic gearbox. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio started a trend that is currently being followed by practically other mass-market passenger carmakers in India. So, if you're looking for a low-cost automatic vehicle, the AMT is your only alternative. Another reason AMTs have grown in popularity is because their fuel economy is nearly comparable to that of manual transmissions.

Automatic Cars Under 6 Lakhs: Renault Kwid

The Renault Kwid AMT is an excellent package for anyone looking for a little city car that is both capacious and loaded with goodies. The new Renault Kwid AMT, which recently received a small redesign, is only available with a 1-litre engine. The Kwid AMT produces 67 bhp of peak power and 91 Nm of peak torque, with a fuel economy of 24.04 kmpl. However, when compared to other cars in the sector, the Renault Kwid is by far the most spacious and boasts the largest cargo. A touchscreen infotainment unit with embedded navigation is also standard on AMT variants, and the back seats have a flip down central arm rest.

Hyundai Santro

The Hyundai Santro is the top pick among AMT vehicles because it offers far more than most vehicles in this price category. The 5-speed AMT unit is smooth to use and is powered by a 1.1-litre engine developed in-house by Hyundai. The engine produces 68 horsepower and 99 Nm of peak torque. The Hyundai Santro AMT has a fuel economy rating of 20.3 kmpl. The Santro AMT comes in two models, with prices ranging from Rs 5.18 lakh to Rs 5.46 lakh (ex-showroom). The Santro AMT also includes a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Maruti Suzuki is the company most responsible for the democratisation of the automatic transmission in India. Since its introduction a few years ago, the carmaker has sold about 4 lakh AMT vehicles in India, with the Maruti Suzuki Celerio being the first to receive the AMT gearbox. The Celerio AMT's 1-litre engine, powered by the proven and trusted K10 engine, produces 67 bhp and 90 Nm and achieves a fuel economy number of 23.1 kmpl. The Celerio, on the other hand, is somewhat old, and even the top-spec cars lack features such as a touchscreen infotainment system. The Maruti Suzuki Celerio AMT costs between Rs 4.97 lakh and Rs 5.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Tiago

The Tata Tiago AMT is India's most powerful automatic automobile for under Rs 6 lakh. The 1.2-litre engine produces 84 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque while returning an astounding 23.8 kmpl! The Tata Tiago AMT features a 5-speed automatic version of the usual manual gearbox and performs fairly nicely. Prices range from Rs 5.04 lakh to Rs 5.63 lakh, although while it is more expensive, it comes with somewhat fewer basic equipment than the Hyundai Santro. It does, however, have a lot of space in the back seat and a spacious boot.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is the latest entry-level hatchback with an AMT transmission. It's one of the most popular cars in India, and we're not surprised given its powerful engine and compact dimensions. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine produces 67 bhp and 90 Nm of peak torque and is paired to a five-speed AMT gearbox. The S-Presso is one of the most capacious hatchbacks in its class, with features such as electrically adjustable wing mirrors, front power windows, and a 7.0-inch smartplay studio infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
