Hero Xoom vs Honda Activa: New scooters are on the market from two well-known two-wheeler brands, Hero and Honda. While Honda has given the Activa the usual nip and tuck, Hero has gone a step further and introduced a 110cc scooter with cornering lights. While the latter is more reasonably priced, we compare it to the best and most popular in the segment.
Price and variants
Honda has updated its best-selling Activa, naming it the H-Smart and charging Rs. 80,537 for it. The scooter is known as the 2023 Honda Activa 6G or the Activa H-Smart. It now has a new design and a slew of keyless features. The Activa H-Smart is available in six different colours. Honda has also revised the prices of the Activa 6G Standard (Rs 74,536) and Activa 6G DLX (Rs 77,036).
The Hero Xoom is available in three variants: LX, VX, and ZX, with introductory prices starting at Rs. 68,599 for the base variant with semi-digital instrumentation and a front 130mm drum brake. Engine
The 110cc BS6 engine in the Hero Xoom produces 8bhp at 7250 rpm and 8.7Nm of torque at 5750 rpm. The budget scooter has telescopic forks up front and a monoshock in the back. The suspension is similar to the Maestro and Pleasure, but it claims to be tuned specifically for the Xoom. It claims to be more athletic.
The Honda Active H-Smart is powered by a 110cc engine with an output of 7.7bhp and 8.9Nm of torque, as well as a combi brake system without a disc brake.
Honda Activa vs Hero Xoom: Features comparison
The electronic key fob on the Honda Activa H-Smart allows one to locate their vehicle by flashing all four indicators. The scooter is activated by flipping the switch located near the key slot. The SmartSafe feature allows you to disable the fob’s keyless functions.
The Hero Zoom, on the other hand, has an LED headlight, tail lamp, and DRL. The 110cc scooter is also outfitted with a fully digital instrumentation and Bluetooth connectivity. If the Activa gets an electronic key fob, the Xoom gets cornering lights that detect lean angle using a gyroscope and then illuminate a number of lights on the side of the scooter that is being turned. This is the first time this feature has been introduced to two-wheelers, though it is common in cars.
