Sony Music India has appointed Mairu Gupta as its new Director of Digital Business. He will be leading Sony Music’s digital business with its streaming partners across India and will be collaborating with the company’s global teams to bring out optimum growth in form of digital revenue and market share.
Gupta, who has won multiple awards for his excellence in digital content, has had a glorious career of more than 15 years. His business experience and thought process are significantly visible in the recent strategies created by Sony Music India under his leadership.
Gupta has been a part of many prominent campaigns. His recent stint was at the NBA where he led league’s content team and media distribution for more than 3.5 years.
“Mairu comes with proven leadership and entrepreneurial experience that will play a key role in building new partnerships that provide new opportunities to expand the reach of our artists,” Rajat Kakkar, Managing Director of Sony Music India, said in a statement.
Talking about joining the company, Gupta said, “There is significant opportunity for Sony Music to lead the digital future of the Indian music industry, especially when considering the added benefits of being part of the wider Sony family. Prior to the NBA, Mairu served as Vice President and Business Head of Jack in the Box Worldwide.
