Price and launch
Although the precise launch schedule has not yet been disclosed, we anticipate the new Honda SUV to enter our market by the 2023 holiday season, which is before Diwali. Bookings may start as early as mid-2023, with the public launch set for Q2, or around April or May 2023. It will be available with both powerful hybrid and gasoline engines. The SUV prices could start at Rs 10.5 lakh for the petrol variant, while the strong hybrid model is likely to be priced around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 22 lakh.
Equipped with ADAS Technology
A camera-based version of the advanced driver assistance system, or ADAS, that we have already seen on the new City hybrid, will likely be installed in the next Honda SUV. The ADAS technology, dubbed “Honda Sensing,” will include capabilities such as collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and high-beam assistance. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, VSM, hill launch aid, 360-degree surround view system, an automatic parking brake, and other features are anticipated to be included in the SUV.
Other features
Only a single teaser photograph of the SUV, which depicts its silhouette, has been released by Honda Car India. The teaser shows that the new Honda SUV borrows design elements from the company’s other worldwide SUVs, such as the CR-V and the HR-V. It has a straight front end with wide wraparound headlamps, a multi-slat grille with a prominent Honda badge, and an upright front. Above the headlamps are the LED daytime running lights. The LED DRLs may be joined by a silver finish bar or by a connected DRL theme.
Engine options
Given that the name was registered by Honda Car India in 2021, it is expected to be called the new Honda Elevate. A 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque will power the basic model. There will be a 6-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission option.
The hybrid model will include an e:HEV hybrid 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine with two electric motors. Peak power for the gasoline engine is 98 horsepower, and with electric help, it can produce 109 horsepower. The total output of torque is 253Nm. The SUV will have one fixed gear ratio and three drive modes, including engine, electric vehicle, and hybrid, just as the City hybrid.
