About the Umling La route

The Umling La is the world’s highest motorable road. It stands at an elevation of 19,024 feet. The manufacturer has now revealed that the Himalayan 452 will be tested from Chennai to Umling La. Royal Enfield is taking three Himalayan 452s on a 5,500-kilometer journey. The motorcycles will be driven by 24 different riders during this voyage. Several vehicles have had problems climbing to Umling La because the oxygen level drops dramatically at such altitudes, preventing the engine from breathing correctly. In fact, when the Interceptor 650 was first introduced, it too encountered problems at high altitudes. However, Royal Enfield solved problem with an ECU upgrade. Most manufactures test their vehicles in all types of weather and elevations to ensure that their consumers have no problems.
