Toyota Fortuner Flex Fuel: The word "eco-friendly" may or may not be used with "Toyota Fortuner." Fortuner has a reputation for being this massive, brawny, barge of an SUV, with up to a 2.8L engine. It appears to have a voracious appetite for fuel, which most owners don't mind. The 2.7L petrol is cleaner burning than the diesel, but with fuel economy in the single digits, carbon/kilometer is still relatively somehow to consider it.
New variant of the well known Fortuner
Toyota recently debuted a new version of their popular Fortuner in Indonesia that is eco-friendly. This is due to the fact that this Fortuner runs on E-100 gasoline (100% Bioethanol). The Fortuner Flexy Fuel is by far the most environmentally efficient variant of Toyota's ladder-frame SUV.
Why the company is taking this step?
The Japanese manufacturer displayed its prototype at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), which was hosted at the Indonesia Convention Exchange (ICE) BSD city in Indonesia. Fortuner Flexy Fuel is one of the most intriguing prototypes Toyota displayed at GIIAS. Raynaldi Rino is credited with the images. Because BS6 P2 emission standards are now mandatory in India, all vehicles are E20 fuel compatible. However, major adjustments to the engine and fuel system are required to make a vehicle run on 100% Ethanol. Ethanol is known to hold more moisture, resulting in interior corrosion.
Toyota Fortuner Flex Fuel: Engine and fuel
Toyota engineers modified the existing 2TR FE 2.7L petrol engine. To achieve 100% Ethanol compatibility, timing, tuning, fuel intake system, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel tank, engine head, spark plugs and several other components and features must be extensively re-engineered.
This E-100 powertrain is based on Fortuner Sigma (also known as Fortuner), which is positioned below Fortuner Legender. This test mule gets a brownie point for running on 100% Bioethanol. This is pure alcohol with a higher Octane number and less pollution.
