Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has alleged that certain individuals holding prominent religious positions are engaging in a misinformation campaign against him, claiming that their actions are influenced by political interests. His remarks came while addressing an ongoing debate surrounding decisions and appointments linked to religious institutions in Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann Accuses Opponents of Misinformation
Mann stated that questions had previously been raised about the need for legal reforms and accountability measures, but that some of the same voices are now opposing the legislation after its implementation. He argued that criticism of the law is driven by concerns that those responsible for past actions could face scrutiny under the new framework.
The Chief Minister also referred to allegations regarding individuals who had allegedly admitted to certain actions in the past and later retracted their statements. He questioned whether the absence of action in such cases reflected impartiality and called for consistency and fairness in addressing issues of public concern.

Emphasizing his commitment to public service, Mann said that the ultimate judgment on political and public matters rests with the people. He maintained that citizens and the wider community would assess the facts and make their own decisions regarding the issues being debated.
Reaffirming his government’s priorities, the Chief Minister stated that he remains dedicated to the welfare, progress, and prosperity of Punjab and its people. He said the administration would continue focusing on governance and development while leaving the final verdict to the public.
