Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has launched 'PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana State Top-Up' scheme to increase the effectiveness and reach of the program. Central government offers Rs 78000 subsidy for rooftop solar panels under the PM Surya Ghar scheme. Delhi government is providing Rs 30000 additional subsidy for the same.

What is the Eligibility for Solar Subsidy of Rs 30000 in Delhi?

To be eligible for the scheme a person 
•    Should be owner of resident of Delhi 
•    Should be owner of the house where solar panels are installed
•    Should install rooftop solar panels

Detail of Scheme and Other Benefits

•    Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that people can save Rs 4200 every month if they opt for the PM Surya Ghar scheme. Further she told that it is a transformative step toward building a cleaner and greener Delhi.
•    The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday approved subsidy of  10000 per KW for residential solar installation.
•    The maximum subsidy is Rs 30000 on the installation of 3 KW or more rooftop solar panels
•    Centre provides Rs 78000 subsidy for installing rooftop solar panels. After subsidy from Delhi government combined subsidy increases to Rs 1.08 lakh, the highest support offered under any such scheme so far, as per statement from the Delhi government.
•    Earlier, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, "The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Gupta has approved a subsidy of Rs 10000 per kilowatt more which comes around to Rs 30000 on the installation of 3 KW rooftop solar panel." The official statement said a budgetary allocation of Rs 50 crore has been made for this purpose and the aim is to install rooftop solar systems on 2.3 lakh residential units over the next three years.
•    Gupta told that the Delhi government was partnering with financial institutions to provide easy loan options for the financing the remaining installation cost of solar panels up to 3 KW capacity which is approximately Rs 90000. This will enable Delhi residents to install solar panels without any upfront payment.

Residents of Delhi can claim subsidy for installations of solar panels up to Rs 30000 in addition of central subsidy of Rs 78000. Additionally, remaining amount can be paid in installments as government is trying to associate with financial institutions for the same.
