Financial Rules Change From 1st June 2025: Many financial changes such as credit card regulations, aadhaar update etc. are happening in June 2025. People should be
aware of these rules so that they can plan their transactions accordingly. These changes are explained here.
1. Charge for Updating Aadhaar
People can do corrections without any charge in their aadhaar cards if there is any error till 14th June 2025. After this, they will have to pay a fee of ₹25 for online updates and ₹50 for offline updates at aadhaar centers. It will increase the burden on people’s pockets; so it is better to complete any update in aadhaar before 14th June 2025.
2. Decrease in Fixed Deposit Rates
As there has been decrease in repo rate by the RBI in both of the latest monetary policies, its impact can be seen in different deposit rates especially fixed deposit (FD) rates. Few banks are decreasing FD interest rates from June 1. For example, Suryoday Small Finance Bank is cutting rates by up to 60 basis points. Other banks can also decrease FD rates. It will impact interest earning for the investors. People should check the interest rate before investing in FD.
3. Change in LPG Price
Normally, change in the price of LPG cylinders is seen on the first day of every month. Therefore, it may be that the price of LPG cylinders changes on June 1, 2025. In the month of May, prices of 14 kg domestic gas cylinders remain unchanged, but the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders were decreased by up to Rs 17 per cylinder.
4. Credit Card Payments
If you use auto debit system for credit card payment, you will have to pay penalty if it fails. Kotak Mahindra Bank Credit Card has changed in its rule regarding this effective from June 1. If the auto debit transaction of the credit card user of this bank fails, user will have to pay a bounce charge of 2% to the bank. This charge will be minimum Rs 450 and maximum Rs 5000. Other credit card companies can also follow the same practice. So, people should keep sufficient amount in their concerned accounts to protect themselves from paying this additional charge.
Moreover, credit card companies may charge additional amount if you use your credit card to pay your utility bills, say electricity or water etc.
5. Deadline For Different Certificates Applicable for ITR Filing
15 June 2025 is the deadline for issuance of the tax deduction at source (TDS) certificate under Form 16. Form 16 is a certificate provided by employers to salaried employees about tax deduction from their salary. It works as a proof that the deducted tax has been submitted to the income tax department.
