Meta To Charge Users To Get Facebook, Instagram Accounts Verified

Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, has announced the launch of a premium verification service that would give blue badge on profiles.

On the Web, the subscription costs $11.99 per month, while on iOS, it costs $14.99 per month. The service will become first available in Australia and New Zealand this week.

Paying users can provide a government ID to have their profile validated. The subscription package for Instagram and Facebook offers additional protection against impersonation in addition to profile verification.

The news of the new subscription service has been spreading for a few days, despite the fact that Meta has not yet provided more details about it. TechDroider claims that Meta Verified will only be available for authenticating profiles and not Pages. On Saturday, Tech portal posted a screenshot of what appeared to be a policy page on Twitter to back up the assertion.

It read, “You can subscribe to Meta Verified to receive a verified badge for your profile… Note: Meta Verified is available to verify profiles only, not Pages. Notable Pages can still apply for a verified badge.”

This comes after Twitter, another social media platform, began to charge a premium under the Twitter Blue subscription, which gives subscribers a blue tick. On the website and mobile app, the paid service is available to Indian consumers for 650 and 900 INR per month, respectively.
