Stock Market Today: In spite of conflicting developments on the global markets, the Indian equity indices Sensex and Nifty50 are poised to open Wednesday’s session in the green. The Nifty50 index’s early indication on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) Nifty futures was last up 30.5 points, or 0.2%, at 18,106.5 after rising as much as 85 points earlier in the day.
Stock Market Today: Dollar steady, yen slips
On January 18, the US dollar held steady while the yen declined as investors awaited the Bank of Japan’s policy announcement, which would pave the way for Tokyo to end its ultra-accommodative monetary policy.
At 128.83 per dollar on Wednesday, the Japanese yen declined by 0.56% against the US dollar from the seven-month high of 127.25 it reached on Monday. The safe-haven dollar’s performance against six rivals is gauged by the dollar index, which was unchanged at 102.400.
Maruti Suzuki recalls 17,362 vehicles to inspect and replace Airbag Controller
A total of 17,362 automobiles produced between December 8, 2022, and January 12, 2023, are being recalled, according to Maruti Suzuki.
Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza, Baleno, and Grand Vitara are the models that are impacted.
The purpose of the recall is to check these vehicles’ Airbag Controllers (“affected parts”) and repair them, if necessary, without charge. In rare instances, it is possible that the damaged part may have a flaw that prevents the airbags and seat belt pretensioners from deploying in the event of a collision.
Sojitz Corp pares 2.35% stake in Samvardhana Motherson for Rs 776 cr
In an open market transaction on Tuesday, Sojitz Corporation sold a 2.35 percent share in Samvardhana Motherson International, a key supplier of auto components, for Rs 776 crore.
According to BSE’s bulk trade data, Sojitz Corporation sold 10,61,88,248 shares, or 2.35 percent of the business, in the sale.
The average price at which the shares were sold put the transaction’s worth at Rs. 776.11 per share.
However, it was unable to identify the buyer(s) of the shares.
Stock Market Today: US markets conclude on a mixed note
The session on the US markets ended on a mixed tone on Tuesday. The tech-heavy Nasdaq increased 15.96 points or 0.14% to 11,095.11 while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) fell 1.14% or 391.76 points to 33,910.85. The S&P 500 also dropped 8.12 points or 0.20% to 3,990.97.
