Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today chaired an important Cabinet meeting in Chandigarh, during which several key decisions were taken to address policy, governance, and development matters in the state.

One of the major decisions included the withdrawal of the notification for the Land Pooling Policy 2025, signalling a shift in the government’s approach towards land acquisition and development. The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Punjab Cooperative Societies Act, 1961, aimed at strengthening the functioning and governance of cooperative bodies across the state.
In a move to further empower rural governance, the Cabinet approved the creation of the post of Panchayat Development Secretary, which is expected to streamline developmental activities and decision-making in villages.

Additionally, the Cabinet granted retrospective approval for the constitution of a Group of Ministers to oversee crop procurement, ensuring better coordination in the purchase of agricultural produce. Retrospective approval was also given for the formation of a Cabinet Sub-Committee, which will focus on specific policy and administrative matters.
CM Bhagwant Mann said these decisions reflect the government’s commitment to transparent governance, rural development, and safeguarding the interests of farmers and citizens.
