Cyclone Asani: Winds gusted up to 85 kmph and heavy rain occurred in Andhrapradesh

Severe cyclone ‘Asani’ on Wednesday intensified into a cyclonic storm and moved towards north coastal Andhra Pradesh and its impact was visible up to 34 km in Narsapur in the state. During this time, winds gusted up to 85 kmph and heavy rain occurred in the area. The Meteorological Department gave this information. A red alert has been issued in Andhra Pradesh regarding ‘Asani’ storm. Strong winds are blowing due to Asani cyclone in Kakinada of the state. High waves are rising in the sea. It has been raining since morning in different parts of the state.

Due to cyclone ‘Asani’, there is a possibility of heavy rain in many parts of Odisha and West Bengal. The Meteorological Department said that the severe cyclone ‘Asani’ intensified into a cyclonic storm on Wednesday and moved towards north coastal Andhra Pradesh and during this time winds gusting to 85 kmph was made in the area. According to the department, the cyclone is likely to weaken further and intensify into a low pressure area by Thursday.

According to the Meteorological Department, due to the cyclone, thatched huts can be damaged and power and communication lines can be damaged. It can damage paddy and other standing crops in Krishna, East and West Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam in Puducherry.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be a lot of movement in the sea in the west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal till Wednesday evening and after that the situation is forecast to be very bad in the same area on Thursday. Fishermen have been asked to stay away from the area for the next few days.

The IMD is monitoring the cyclonic storm and has issued 30 national bulletins since May 7 to inform the local administration about the storm and how to deal with it.
