ED recovers 2 AK-47 in raids on Jharkhand CM’s Hemant Soren close ‘aide

Enforcement Directorate ED raided 17 locations in connection with money laundering in illegal mining in Jharkhand. These raids have been done at the places related to Prem Prakash. During the raid, the ED has found two AK 47 rifles. Prem Prakash is reportedly close to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

ED officials told media that the guns were found kept in an iron cupboard. It is likely that a separate case will be registered against Prem Prakash under the Arms Act.

The raids were conducted after getting specific information about his alleged affair with Prem Prakash and Hemant Soren. Apart from their premises in the illegal mining case, 16 premises have been raided in Jharkhand, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Delhi-NCR.

Statements, digital evidence and documents of several people collected during the investigation. The bank balance, along with the seized cash, was found from the massive illegal mining being carried out in the Sahibganj area. The probe agency had earlier said in a statement that income of Rs 100 crore made from illegal mining is also being traced.

Earlier, the agency had also seized Rs 11.88 crore from 37 bank accounts of Hemant Soren’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra, including his close associates, under PMLA.

Incriminating documents along with unaccounted cash of Rs 5.34 crore were seized on July 8 at Sahibganj, Barhait, Rajmahal, Mirza Chowki and Barharwa in Jharkhand. The ED also seized five stone crushers and five illegal firearm cartridges being operated illegally from the site.

In May, the agency had searched 36 places related to the MGNREGA scam and seized Rs 19.76 crore in cash. During the investigation, the premises of IAS officer Pooja Singhal and her associates were searched.

Today the CBI has raided the places of many RJD leaders in Bihar. During this the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also become active. ED has raided 17-20 locations in Jharkhand in connection with money laundering in illegal mining. The ED conducted these raids after interrogating Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra and Bachchu Yadav. Both were arrested by the ED some time back. The ED started raids in March by registering a case against Mishra and others under the PMLA Act.

The CBI raids on RJD leaders in Bihar have come at a time when the speaker has resigned before the floor test in the assembly on Wednesday. In such a situation, RJD has targeted the ruling BJP at the Center, terming it as an act of revenge.
