India on Tuesday reported 26,115 new cases of Covid-19 taking the telly to 3,35,04,534 and 252 deaths, 34,469 recoveries in last 24 hours as per health ministry’s updated bulletin at 9 am. With this, India’s total death toll has climbed to 4,45,385.
Total active cases in the country now stand at 3,09,575, as against total recoveries which have jumped to 3,27,49,574.
Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.92%; lowest since March 2020.

The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 7,602 on Tuesday as two more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said. Both the new patients have travel history, it said. The Union territory now has 15 active cases, while 7,458 people have been cured of the disease, and 129 patients have succumbed to the infection so far.
Maharashtra on Monday reported 2,583 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest since February 9, taking the total tally to 65,24,498. The state also recorded 28 new fatalities, taking the death toll to 1,38,546. Meanwhile, 3,836 patients recovered. Mumbai city recorded 417 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths.

India expects to get its first Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine doses from next month, filled and finished in India by a partner of the US drugmaker, a source with knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Monday. It could receive as many as 43.5 million doses of the single-shot vaccine in October, said the source.
The US will allow fully vaccinated individuals to enter the country beginning in November under a new international travel system.
COVID-19 may start becoming an endemic in the next six months, according to Dr. Sujeet Singh, the Director of National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). It means the disease will continue to prevail in the population, but will become easier to manage.
