Covid reserve beds will be used for dengue-malaria patients in government hospitals

Amidst the corona epidemic in the country’s capital Delhi, these days the havoc of dengue and malaria is being seen a lot. The number of patients in private and private hospitals is increasing every day. In such a situation, the Delhi government has decided that one-third of the beds reserved for corona patients, including ICU beds in all government hospitals, should be used for dengue, malaria and chikungunya patients.

These beds can be allotted to patients suffering from dengue, malaria or chikungunya as and when required, the Delhi government’s health and family welfare department said. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had earlier said that we have made adequate arrangements for dengue patients in government hospitals and no patient is being sent back, but if now the government has made arrangements with ICU beds. There is a shortage of beds for dengue patients in Safdarjung Hospital and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. He further said that no patient is being turned back and added that there is a shortage of beds in the centrally run hospitals but the Delhi government has made adequate arrangements in the Delhi government hospitals.

According to a report released on Monday, Delhi has reported over 1,000 cases of dengue this year, with over 280 cases registered last week. Out of the total dengue cases reported in Delhi this season, 665 were recorded in the first 23 days of this month alone.
