Delhi Govt Order Hospitals To Reserve 5% For Covid And Dengue Patients

In response to a surge in dengue cases in Delhi, the Health Minister, Saurabh Bharadwaj, has directed hospitals to allocate 5% of their beds, previously reserved for COVID-19 patients, for dengue patients. A portal will be used to report daily dengue cases, similar to how COVID-19 cases were reported in the past.

During a meeting with nodal officers from different entities, including Delhi Cantt, NDMC, MCD, Delhi government, and AIIMS, preparations for managing dengue were discussed. The officials were instructed to convert the designated COVID-19 beds to now serve dengue patients.

Furthermore, a portal will be used to track and report daily dengue cases, mirroring the system previously used for COVID-19 cases. The authorities were also asked to expedite test results for dengue to help with quicker diagnosis and management.

In addition to tackling the dengue outbreak, the Health Minister will be conducting surprise inspections at schools on the following day to ensure compliance with the directive of students wearing full-sleeved clothing. Schools failing to adhere to the regulations will face consequences.

As per a recent report by the Municipal Corporation, Delhi recorded 56 fresh dengue cases in the previous week, bringing the total number of dengue cases to 243 as of July 28.
